BASE CAMP ON THE GO

The Foundation partnered with Waynesville Recreation Center to provide a free mobile recreation program for all children in Haywood County. (See attached)

This was the camp’s first summer. The camp went to 4 main sites in the county this summer – Jonathan Valley Elementary School, Canton Park, Fines Creek and Waynesville Recreation Center. The camp reached over 800 Haywood County children. Below is a list of some of the activities that were offered at the camp:

• Dodge Ball
• Log rolling
• Fly fishing
• Obstacle Course
• Education on the Environment
• Toys would be put out and the children would create their own games
• When the pool was emptied, they would play in the mud
• Children would put the Zorba Balls around their bodies and they would bounce off each other

The Foundation purchased the truck and one-year’s salary for the Program Specialist.
