People We Serve

Our Work

The Haywood Healthcare Foundation prides itself on the work we accomplish for the people of our community. Our mission is focused on individuals and families and the ways in which we can directly impact their health. The Foundation, including its volunteers, donors and partners, combine efforts to accomplish the goals set forth in our mission statement.

Our Events

We hold several well-supported and anticipated fundraising events annually: Casino Night in May, our Golf Tournament and Gala in the late summer and the Power of Pink Run in late fall. Our community truly embraces our fundraising efforts as they have become traditions for many in Haywood County.

Proceeds from these events go to select healthcare initiatives, projects and grants chosen annually by the Board of Trustees, depending on the unmet healthcare needs in our community.

Our Initiatives

We have three areas of focus through which we strive to achieve our goals of encouraging healthier living for residents of Haywood County.

  • Healthcare: We focus on unmet healthcare needs for individuals and families in Haywood County.
  • Education: We provide scholarships to high school students and community college nursing students seeking careers in clinical and technical healthcare professions.
  • Community Partnerships: Along with providing grants, we collaborate with agencies and non-profit organizations to increase impact and achieve improved healthcare for the people of Haywood County.

My name is Murna, and I am part of Circles of Hope Haywood County. I was able to be a recipient of the dental program from the foundation.  I went to the Dental Clinic at the Haywood County Health Department.  The dentist did X-Rays and a cleaning.  They  were very caring and gave me information about what else needs to be done.  I had 7 cavities and a broken tooth.  I hope to go back and get the broken tooth fixed.  Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to go to the dentist. I haven’t been to the dentist in many years.

My name is Beveann Kirkwood and I’m a Circle Leader with  Circles of Hope Haywood County.  I went to the dentist and found out I had 1 cavity and need a cap on another tooth.  I plan to go back and get this fixed.  I haven’t been to the dentist in 7 years because I don’t have dental insurance.  I hope to get some of the major dental needs taken care of through the foundation.   Thank you so much for your kindness.

I hadn’t had new glasses in ten years. My new glasses have helped in me in school and in my clinicals. I can actually see the numbers when I’m taking blood pressure.

I just wanted to say thank you for the scholarship. I appreciate it so very much. This will greatly help me to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. I have always been pulled to nursing and feel like I have found my place in the world since I have started nursing school. I prayed for doors to be opened to allow it to happen and it seemed like it is. I am so grateful for people like you.

Thank you so much.

I didn’t realize how bad my eyes were until I got glasses. I can read now.
